Each one of a kind Periwinkle Bear is handmade of mohair handwoven at Periwinkle Cottage on the shores of Prince Edward Island. In the spirit of our sailor forebears, who placed a penny under a ships mast for luck, each Periwinkle Bear has a good luck penny placed in the right (starboard) ear.

We have been making our bears for six years. Four years ago we purchased a loom and started weaving our own mohair for our teddies. Our mohair comes to us already spun, from Touch Stone Manor, Osgoode, Ontario. We buy directly from the farm that raises the angora goats. This gives us the freedom to weave fabric as dense or sparse as we want. We have never attended a bear show, as we wish to remain Happily Reclusive Bear Artists.
