Teddy Bairds is the creation of two sisters (Baird being their maiden name) who came to bear-making quite by accident in 1997. After trying a kit, and never being the type to follow directions, they quickly began making up their own designs. The world of miniature bears appealed to both sisters, who took inspiration from miniature doll house collecting.

In 1999, they turned "professional" to feed their bear-making habit, showing at the "Teddy Bears On Vacation" show in Saint John, NB, where they received a warm welcome and encouragement from the bear artist's community.

Their bears are limited to editions of 25 or less, though each bear with in a design is unique in colour and trim combination. Teddy Bairds bears can be seen at the Seacoast Art Gallery in St. Andrew's, NB.
